Central Intake Admissions

separator

All overnight guests are required to obtain a referral slip from Central Intake. Central Intake. is a program run by the David Busby Street Centre.

It was initiated in November 2004, and the partners in this program include Barrie Out of the Cold, the David Busby Street Centre, Salvation Army, Elizabeth Fry Society and Youth Haven.

Central Intake operates from 5.30 pm until 9.30 pm each night. From 5.30 pm until 6.30pm, the Central Intake van will be located at C.M.H.A.

Between 6.30pm and 9.30 pm, the van will be mobile

After 6.30pm: for shelter call 1 877 845 0840.

Referrals to all shelter locations are limited by space so it is necessary to register early in order to find accommodation for the night.

Curfew at BOOTC is 7:30 p.m., anyone admitted after this time will be considered a Late Entry and will be subject to the conditions set out in the BOOTC Late Entry Policy.

The Central Intake program is overseen and financed by the County of Simcoe and the day to day operation is the responsibility of the David Busby Street Centre.

The intent behind having a central location for emergency shelter was two fold; firstly that anyone seeking shelter would be referred to a shelter bed if one was available; secondly, the contact with Busby staff ensured that help to find more permanent housing was offered in a timely fashion..
