Barrie Out of the Cold Spares
The volunteers who offer to be "spares" are very important to the program because they help out by replacing team members when they are sick or unable to attend for other reasons. "Spares" are especially in demand on the overnight and early morning shifts, 11pm – 6 am and 6am – 8 am.
Before completing the application form to be a spare, you need to decide which of the four shifts interests you. As a spare you will always be working with other experienced members of the team and you have the option to help on one or more shifts. If you are available on different days of the week, this will also give you the opportunity to work in different church locations.
The different shift options are:
5-8 pm: Help set up for meal and do clean up
8-11 pm: Socialize with guests, prepare snacks, set out mats/blankets
11-6 pm: Ensure guests have a night's rest in a safe & secure environment
6-8 am: Prepare breakfast, wash mats, leave church clean & tidy.
Schedule:
Monday at St. Andrew's
Tuesday at Bethel
Wednesday at St. Mary's
Thursday at Barrie Free Methodist
Friday at Central United
Saturday & Sunday at Collier Street United
