The planning, organizing and management of BOOTC is conducted by:
  • the Board of Directors
  • the Coordinators from the six host churches
  • the liaison sub committee

Members of these organizational units are volunteers who may also be active in the front line operation of BOOTC. Although Board meetings are scheduled for the second Monday of each month the Board meets on an as needed basis. As with most organizations, the BOOTC Board deals with policy level issues and provides overall direction to BOOTC in accordance with the BOOTC Constitution. Board membership is open to everyone who is committed to the mission of BOOTC and is subject to nomination and approval by the general membership of BOOTC. Anyone interested in serving on the Board should make their interest known to us. Please contact us and the President or Secretary of the Board will be in touch with you shortly.

Coordinating Team

Each church location has one or more coordinators, who are responsible for the operation of BOOTC at that particular church. The Coordinating Team is comprised of these coordinators, and, as the name suggests, the Team serves as a vehicle to coordinate the operations of BOOTC at the six church locations. The Coordinating Team is the key organizational structure for addressing common operating issues and problem solving across the six locations. This is aimed at ensuring, as far as possible, consistent standards of operation throughout BOOTC. Also on the Coordinating Team is the Executive Director of the David Busby Street Center, which is an organization focussed on the homeless and needy in the community. In as much as the David Busby Street Center and BOOTC serve many of the same clientele and experience many of the same issues, it is prudent to have this link between the two organizations.

Liaison Subcommittee

There are a number of organizations within the Barrie community, which serve the homeless and needy, by providing overnight accommodation and meals. Barrie Out of the Cold is represented on a committee, which meets together with the Salvation Army, the Elizabeth Fry Society, Youth Haven and Bii-nbaan Endaayaang (the shelter for Native Canadians) to coordinate efforts and resources so that there is maximum benefit. If you should wish to speak to one of the members of the board or the coordinating committee for BOOTC, please contact us by email or telephone: (705)331-1396
